Preschool Days

DD's preschool today was about making and painting mailboxes, writing letters to each other, playing Hi Ho Cherry-O, and watching Robin Good, a Veggietales episode.

Why mailboxes and letters? Because they encourage writing and relationships, of course! We did this with our kids while they were growing up. The mailboxes are made from empty food boxes that the kids painted. They can be hung on the wall for continued use. Receiving letters make kids feel special. We want them to both receive and give this blessing.

Hi Ho Cherry-O is the favorite game right now. They are practicing their counting, rule following, turn taking, and being good winners and losers. And who doesn't love the feeling of flicking a spinner and moving the little cherries into the basket and even back onto the tree??

Why Robin Good?  If I'm honest, there were lots of paint supplies and smears to clean up before they dried out and also lunch to make. Choosing one's battles is smart, and I'm not above some good quality television at the right time.

At the end of the morning, everyone was tired. The kids and DD. I may have used up my entire day's allowance of energy points by noon... Oops... but it was a good time at preschool today.

Now to find something easy for dinner because Jeff unexpectedly had to work late tonight. Good things my heart is full!
